The Royal Burton Agnes welcomed old rivals BABB to Victoria Fields on an overcast Thursday evening. A reminder – if Agnes had beaten BABB last summer (a team that did not include Dan Broumpton) then we would have won the league.
Charlie Watts was still visiting Harry Fenton at Wandsworth Prison. A frustrated Will Watts arrived and moaned that he isn’t allowed to shave his hair in his new line of work. And Ben Brown (or was it his twin brother, Ken Brown?) arrived at 7:15 and blamed the Withernsea to Agnes roads.
The game started well; Jordans Zamunda bowling as well as he ever has and the bookies favourite for leading wicket taker, Ben Traves, picked up a solitary wicket – which is one more wicket than what Marley Ward took.
The reply started with the MBP swinging from the hip before Cam Anderson continued his form to see us to an important victory. Frustrated at son Will’s poor work ethic, Richard Watts let out his frustration by screaming, “There’s two there!” or “You’ve got to run harder William Watts!” on all occasions.
Port moment – this easily could have gone to Jordans Zamunda but the stand in management team of Richard Watts and Mark Beckett decided to award it to Ben Brown for his guile and years of experience which was simply too much for this BABB team.
